Notre Dame received their 21st verbal commitment in the 2013 recruiting class today, as Torii Hunter Jr. (Prosper HS-Prosper, TX) gave his pledge to the Irish. The 6’0” 170-pound wide receiver committed while on his official visit to South Bend for the Michigan game. Hunter’s name may be familiar to some people because he shares the same name with his father, Anaheim Angels all-star outfielder, Torii Hunter. Hunter is rated as a 4-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals, and 247sports while also being rated a 3 star prospect by Scout. Hunter holds an elite scholarship offer list with offers from Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Missouri, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, West Virginia, and several others. Torii Hunter Jr. burst on to the recruiting scene over the summer when he won the MVP award at “The Opening”. On top of being a fantastic football player, Hunter is also a great baseball player and will play for the Notre Dame baseball team as well.
