On Sunday Notre Dame gained their 8th commitment in the 2014 recruiting class when elite running back Elijah Hood chose the Irish. Following a weekend visit to Notre Dame with his parents, Hood committed to the Irish over offers from Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Stanford, USC, and many others. The 6’0” 220-pound running back from Charlotte, NC (Charlotte Catholic) is rated as a 4-star running back by ESPN and Scout and a 4-star athlete by 247Sports. Rivals rates Hood as a 5-star athlete, the number one athlete in the country, and the 12th overall player in the country. Hood is ranked in the top 10 at both positions on every major recruiting site. So far in this recruiting class, Elijah Hood is the highest rated recruit committed to the Irish.
